Mrs Yasmin Taylor-Hazzard – Principal

 

 

Yasmin started ballet training locally and at the age of 16, after winning the Valerie Adams Award in Bournemouth for 3 consecutive years, went on to train under Miss Adams at the Royal Ballet School (Teachers Training Course), graduating with a special prize from Dame Ninette de Valois in 1991.

Following her graduation Yasmin studied at Ballet Rambert, which enabled her to explore contemporary dance and experiment with different styles of choreography and staging.  During her time at Rambert she also worked with the National Youth Ballet as an assistant choreographer in their production of The Dolls House at Sadlers Wells Theatre.  She then went on to dance with the Dutch National Ballet in their tour of Romeo and Juliet.

In addition to her Teaching Diploma from the Royal Ballet School (Dip. RBS TTC), Yasmin is:

  • An Associate of the Royal Academy of Dancing (ARAD) – she has passed the Advanced Major Examination and is a Fully Registered Teacher of the Academy enabling her to teach the RAD method and to enter pupils for its ballet examinations
  • An Associate of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (AISTD), qualified to teach Cecchetti Method of Ballet, National, Greek and Modern
  • A qualified dance notator and teacher of choreology, holding the Diploma of the Benesh Institute of Choreology.

Yasmin is also a Dance Adjudicator of the British and International Federation of Festivals and of All-England Dance.
